The Arson Prevention Program for Children (TAPP-C) helps
children with a fascination of fire, or are firesetters. It consists of
an assessment by the Mental Health Dept., a home visit by fire service staff,
and visits to the fire station where fire safety videos are shown. We discuss
the consequences of playing with fire and when the sessions are over we
give the child a certificate of completion and a Firefighter's Friend cap. I am the CFPO (Supervisor of Fire Prevention). Jim Cook is the Oshawa Fire Services' Coordinator for the program and is at the same phone number. |
