Smoking Materials and Fire Safety

   Does your facility accommodate a smoking section?

   If you do, keep in mind that 10% of all eating establishment fires are caused by careless disposal of smoking materials.

Checklist:

  1. Are ash trays emptied only into into covered metal containers?
  2. Are used table linens stored only in closed metal containers?
  3. Is employee smoking banned in storage, locker and similar areas?
  4. Do you provide ample, safe-type ash trays for your customers...at dining tables, in lounge areas, and in your restrooms?
